About Tai Chi
Tai Chi is probably the most effective exercise to improve health and well being. You can start and continue to improve and progress to a higher level
regardless of age or physical condition. More importantly, Tai Chi not only
eads you to better health but also brings harmony
to yourself and others. It is so enjoyable millions of people around the world practice it.
Tai Chi was created based on nature and harmony. The gentle flowing movements contain inner power that strengthens the body and improves
mental balance. Scientific studies have shown that Tai Chi improves arthritis,
heart disease and diabetes. In addition, it improves balance, immunity and reduces stress. In fact, Tai Chi improves all aspects of health.
Mark Gallagher offers two programs in Tai Chi practice every Tuesday and Thursday:
6:30 PM—Tai Chi for Health—featuring modified forms that are gentle and easy to learn.
7:30 PM—Tai Chi w/Qigong—a class that uses more traditional forms with
the added fun of qigong breathing exercises.

Tai Chi for Health
The ‘Tai Chi for Health’ classes are designed by Dr. Paul Lam, a family physician and a world leader in the field of Tai Chi for health improvement. Dr. Lam, a Tai Chi master for over 30 years, along with medical and Tai Chi experts, created a range of Tai Chi programs. Each program is unique and useful, and backed up by scientific studies to improve health and quality of life.
The Tai Chi for Health programs are ideal for beginners, seniors and those with health problems. They have received world acclaim, are easy and enjoyable to learn, and studies have shown them to be effective.
Many organizations including: Arthritis Foundation of Australia, Arthritis Care of UK, and Arthritis Foundation of America; have adopted these programs.
Based on the ‘Sun style’ of Tai Chi, these programs are gentle, easy to learn, effective and safe. The modified form increases flexibility, strength, heart/lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance, and integrates the mind and body. These programs contribute to the prevention of falls, and relieve symptoms of arthritis, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
Published studies show this program to be safe and effective. Thousands of people have gained relief, while others have gained strength and balance for fall prevention.
